Amber Henry’s Classes:

Posing Panic! Guiding Clients Head to Toe (because “just act natural” isn’t helping)

Live Demonstration

Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced

Class Description:

“I never know what to do with my hands!”

Last year my posing class packed out, sparked nonstop discussion, and got requested back by attendees who already took it. And the biggest complaint was…give us MORE!

Most photographers are trying to pose while hiding behind a camera, rapid-firing frames, hoping something the client does just magically works. But if you can’t SEE the posing needs of your clients BEFORE you shoot them, you’ll constantly fight against your clients, your lighting, and yourself.

This class is intentionally built as a live demonstration because learning to direct without relying on your camera is one of the fastest ways to train your eye and elevate your work.

We’ll work with both couples and individuals so you can learn:

* How masculine and feminine posing differ
* How bodies interact with each other and the environment
* How movement changes shape, emotion, and story
* How to create movement that feels natural instead of stiff and “posey”

Most importantly: we’re talking about REAL PEOPLE. Not every client is built like a model. If you only know how to pose one body type, one height, one shape, you are limiting your ability to create consistently strong work.

This class focuses heavily on:

* Posing all body types intentionally and professionally
* Understanding body mechanics instead of memorizing “poses”
* Using angles, weight distribution, posture, and connection to flatter every client
* Creating believable interaction instead of awkward prom-photo energy
* Using lighting and environment to support the pose instead of fighting against it

Understanding how the human body moves, bends, connects, and photographs is the difference between a pro and amateur. This class is fast-paced, direct, funny, brutally practical, and immediately usable. Expect live demonstrations, real-time corrections, and constant breakdowns of WHY something works or doesn’t. And I am the one who encourages questions and interactions! Yup, you will be getting involved so get ready to move!”

What to Bring to Class:

No gear required but you are welcome to bring your camera to take BTS as we go through the posing head to toe.

Primary Topics: Posing

Prism Play: Color, Chaos, and Creative Lighting

Hands-On

Intermediate, Advanced

Class Description:

This is not a sit-down-and-watch class. This is a full creative playground built around gels, color theory, emotion, and learning how to create images that people immediately recognize as YOUR work. If you’ve seen my portraits, weddings, or editorial work online, then you already know: I don’t use color timidly.

In this class, I’m going to break the fear of creative lighting and start intentionally building bold, emotional, high-impact imagery using gels, layered light, environmental interaction, and creative direction that goes beyond “put a orange gel on the background, add smoke, and call it art.”

This class is heavily hands-on and intentionally capped at ONLY 30 attendees so every photographer has real shooting time, real interaction, and the opportunity to create portfolio-worthy images instead of standing in the back watching someone else shoot. We’ll work through multiple live setups with models while I walk you through exactly how I approach color, light placement, posing, atmosphere, and emotional energy to create the vivid, cinematic style my work is known for. I will also include class-only tips, tricks, and tools I use to make those colors pop right in camera.

Expect experimentation, movement, creative risks, and a whole lot of color. Bring your camera, your creativity, and be ready to play in the rainbow!

What to Bring to Class:

Westcott Lighting will be provided along with triggers. This class will move quickly so familiarity with how triggers work is needed. I will have an assistant to help give guidance but basic knowledge of OCF is recommended.

Primary Topics: Lighting – Creative and Special Effects, Lighting – Off-Camera (Flash or Constant)

Chaos Doesn’t Pay – Run the Damn Wedding Day!

Lecture

Beginner, Intermediate

Class Description:

This is the ultimate Wedding Day Timeline planning guide, from meeting to final delivery.

The difference between photographers who are just surviving in the wedding industry and photographers who are dominating them is simple: one reacts to the day, the other leads it.

This class is all about building and controlling wedding timelines in a way that keeps clients relaxed, emotionally present, and fully trusting you. I am going to break down everything from start to finish – when to build the timeline, how to involve clients (without losing authority), listening to their needs while still getting yours met, how to structure the entire day for better images, and how to prevent out-of-time chaos before it ever starts. With over 20 years of experience I can tell you that when couples feel guided through their day instead of rushed from photo shoot to photo shoot, everything changes…and your photographs get better!

I will show you real weddings and how I captured their days from start to finish, using my timeline as the framework that holds it all together. I will also give you tricks on how to overcome objections in a fun but firm manner so that your client still feel they are in control and are happy (but you get exactly what you need from them).

I am going to dive into the professional intelligence needed from you on wedding days: identifying who matters most, recognizing emotional moments before they happen, creating connection instead of forced posing, and documenting the story with intention instead of spray-and-pray coverage. This is one of my most requested 1-on-1 mentoring topics because it’s where everything typically falls apart. Strong timeline management doesn’t just create better images it creates trust, referrals, calmer wedding days, and higher-paying clients. Couples who have no guidance or trust in their photographer will not refer them. It is the photographers who can confidently lead the experience who are the ones clients remember, recommend, and happily pay more for!

What to Bring to Class:

Laptops for notes are strongly encouraged. Note taking will be critical for you to be able to go home and re-create the timeline structure efficiently for your own studio.
