Are You an Artist? Or is it Just a F*kng Job?

Are You an Artist? Or is it Just a Fkng Job?

What does that even mean?

Somewhere along the way, this thing we love—this thing we poured our heart into—started to feel like… a job. Like something we have to do instead of something we GET to do.

Does that ever feel like you?

A lot of photographers start out passionate and driven. But over time, the spark fades. You start to wonder: Am I actually happy if this is just about making money?

Or is it more important to create the work you want, and work with the people you want?

In this class, I’m going to share how—after 30 years and over 1,200 weddings—I still absolutely love documenting weddings. And more than anything, it’s the relationships I build with my couples that keep me going. That’s where the magic happens.

From Blah to Brilliance: Elevate the Expected

“It’s not you. It’s me.”

We’ve all heard that before. But when it comes to your work? It’s not your couples. It actually is ‘YOU’! You’ve got to give your couples the permission to have fun.

In this hands-on class, we’re taking your standard photos—details, couple portraits, wedding party shots, and all the usual wedding day moments—and flipping the script. By simply thinking outside the box and truly getting to know your couples, you can create so much more.

I’ll take the students out, walk them through my process, then break them into groups to fully execute the ideas themselves. We’ll dive into the prompts and the emotional direction needed to bring these moments to life.

It’s going to be a fun class—but also real. We’ll recreate situations that actually happen on a wedding day. Too many photographers fall into that “same wedding, different week” rut. I want to shake that mindset, push people to think deeper, reignite their passion for creativity, and remind them what it means to go above and beyond for their couples.

Master the Art of the Champagne Shot

I’ve received multiple awards and praise for my creative use of lighting and for giving my couples an unforgettable experience during the champagne shot. Using a three-light setup, I will walk you through this must-have photo series for your couples—showing you exactly how to set it up, step by step. You’ll learn how to protect your gear from getting soaked in champagne and how to create a fun, memorable moment your couples will rave about.

We’ll talk about the setup first, then I’ll walk you through exactly how I shoot them in real time. Get ready to wow your couples and deliver an experience they’ll be talking about long after the wedding day.

Last year’s class got rave reviews, with one attendee saying, “The Champagne class was my favorite class by far. Sometime I feel like I can learn it in class,
then forget by the time I get home, but he really made it easy to remember. Great instructor. Hope to take his classes next year!”
