Breaking the Rules — How to Stay Creative in Any Situation

Speaker: Anderson Marques (Website) (Social Media)

Hands-On

Intermediate

Photography is often introduced through a set of rules, the rule of thirds, symmetry, leading lines. But true artistry emerges when we know these principles so well that we can break them with purpose. Breaking the Rules is about embracing freedom: the ability to adapt, improvise, and push beyond convention to craft images that are powerful, unexpected, and unforgettable in any situation.

Primary Topics: Composition

Double Exposure — Blending Realities, Expanding Creativity

Speaker: Anderson Marques (Website) (Social Media)

Live Demonstration

Intermediate

Double exposure is more than a technique, it’s a mindset. By combining two frames into one, we challenge the idea of photography as a single truth and open the door to layered storytelling. This approach embodies breaking the rules: merging light, shapes, and emotions in ways that transcend reality. Double Exposure is about seeing beyond what’s in front of you, blending imagination with technique to create powerful and poetic compositions.

Plurality in Composition — Layering Elements for Stronger Visual Impact

Speaker: Anderson Marques (Website) (Social Media)

Lecture

Intermediate

Great photographs rarely rely on a single compositional rule. Instead, they become powerful when multiple elements, light, lines, colors, patterns, framing, depth, or negative space, work together in harmony. Plurality in Composition is about learning to layer these tools intentionally to build images that feel more complete, dynamic, and emotionally resonant.
